G59 Firmware update

1) Download the latest firmware (current version is 1.0.6).

2) Download FlashProgrammer.exe.

3) Disconnect power from G59 board.

4) Connect USB cable between G59 board and PC.

5) In order to load new firmware your must set your micro controller into boot mode. The uC goes into boot mode when dash and dot pins are grounded for 10 seconds during power up. This is how it practically works:

6) Plug in a key paddle into keyer paddle socket (the one located at the back closest to BNC connector) as per photo.

7) Squeeze dash and dot paddle together and hold.

8) While holding the paddles squeezed, plug in DC power jack to power up G59.

9) After 10 seconds release dash / dot paddles. Your micro controller is now in boot mode.

(If you don't have a paddle, use instead a 3.5mm stereo audio jack with hot pins connected to ground. You will have to plug it in before power up and remove 10 seconds after the power up. Alternatively you can use low impedance head phones for same purpose.)

10) Run FlashProgrammer.exe. Make sure that FlashProgrammer status is connected.

11) Click on File open.

12) Select the latest firmware file. Click Open.

13) Check that new firmware version is loaded into FlashProgrammer.

14) Click "Erase Firmware" to erase existing firmware from uC.

15) Click "Write Firmware" to load new firmware into uC.

16) Upon completion, current firmware version will be recognized by FlashProgrammer.

17) To check if newly loaded firmware is recognized by GSDR start GSDR and click on "About".

This completes the G59 firmware loading procedure.

In case you need to roll back to previous version of G59 firmware, download firmware 1.0.5.
